What are the links between nutrition and beauty?

Écrit par Ecosystem Laboratoire - Publié le

Beauty is a subject that has always captivated mankind. Every day, people around the world spend millions of euros on improving their image: hairdressers, cosmetics, barbers, clothes... But very often, one simple way of improving your appearance is neglected: diet. You may be wondering what the links are between nutrition and beauty? In this article, we're going to answer that question!

The skin, an external reflection of your diet:

It's the largest organ in our body and also the most visible: our skin is often a reflection of our inner health and what we eat. A diet rich in essential nutrients can help maintain healthy, radiant skin. Here is a non-exhaustive list of nutrients that play a major role in keeping our skin healthy:

  • Anti-oxidants: such as vitamins C and E, help to combat the free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing. They are mainly found in citrus fruits, nuts and green vegetables.
  • Essential fatty acids: omega-3 and omega-6 help to keep the skin hydrated and reduce inflammation. Oily fish, nuts and seeds are good sources of fatty acids.
  • Proteins: these are essential for collagen production, helping to keep the skin firm. Excellent sources of protein include eggs, meat and pulses.
  • Water: drinking enough water is extremely beneficial for our bodies, and for the skin. Maintaining optimal hydration helps combat potential skin dryness.

By ensuring that your diet includes all the essential nutrients and sufficient water, you can help your body prevent skin problems such as acne, dryness and wrinkles. Well-nourished skin is more resistant to external aggression and stays younger-looking for longer. Several of our food supplement ranges contain some of the nutrients mentioned above. For example, our Living Gold is rich in vitamin E, and also contains omega-3. Our 'Omega-3' capsules also provide a direct supply of the latter. Need vitamin C? If so, our Li Ksirel & Nat'Forme will be your allies!

Hair can also be sensitive to diet:

It's not just your skin that can be affected by your diet: your hair can also suffer the consequences of a dietary imbalance. Many hair problems can be the result of a nutritional deficiency. Here are a few nutrients to include in your dietary routine to avoid hair problems:

  • Biotin: also known as 'vitamin H', biotin is essential for hair growth. It is found mainly in eggs, liver and green leafy vegetables.
  • Iron: a good intake of iron is important for preventing hair loss linked to a lack of this nutrient. It can be found in red meat, lentils and spinach.
  • Zinc: Like iron, zinc promotes hair growth and helps prevent hair loss. Zinc is found mainly in nuts, seeds and dairy products.
  • Proteins: here they come again! As with your skin, protein is essential for healthy hair.

Monitoring your intake of these nutrients can help your body maintain silky, shiny hair. In our range of cosmetics, one product in particular allows you to complement the benefits of a healthy diet for your hair. Our Vital'R contains a number of ingredients rich in benefits for your hair, such as vegetable coconut oil to nourish it, and shea butter to protect it.

Mental well-being and beauty :

There's nothing more beautiful on a face than a smile, is there? Stress is an important factor to take into account when it comes to looking after your appearance. Stress can trigger acne, as can an unbalanced diet. Another way to channel and reduce stress is through diet. Certain foods are renowned for their anti-stress properties, such as saffron. This spice has been known for many years for its anti-stress benefits. The good news is that we love this spice, and two of our products contain it: liquid Saffron Extract & our chocolate-based preparation Cafrine Cool! What's more, CBD is also renowned for its soothing, anti-stress properties. We've used this plant to bring you a unique water-soluble extract. Another piece of good news is that we've bundled our anti-stress products into a pack so you can save money!

A good diet also means a controlled weight:

A healthy, balanced diet also helps to maintain an optimal body weight, which can boost confidence and self-esteem. In conclusion, what we eat has a real and direct impact on our skin, our hair, our mental well-being and our weight. Overall, we can say that a balanced diet enriched with essential nutrients is an important lever not to be neglected when it comes to beauty. But above all, let's not forget that the most important thing is to feel good about your body!
